The

Bio.frame

Bio.frame is designed to bring nature into the everyday - light, modular and quietly expressive. Its geometry, joinery and balanced proportions create a refined framework that supports a diverse collection of plants, shaping an indoor environment inspired by flora. Its modular and freestanding qualities offer the maker a creative canvas for expressing personal preferences, adapted to different interior styles and spatial needs.

Framing biophilia

At the heart of the Bio.frame are two fundamental ideas:
Bio
 - from biophilia, our natural affinity for botanical life and its ability to shape spaces that feel peaceful, relaxed and naturally connected.
Frame
- a framework that organises and displays planting while also serving a role within the interior, whether as a room divider, wall garden or workspace partition.

Modular

With 62 purpose-designed components, Bio.frame provides a modular system using selectable sections, variable heights and different shelf dimensions. These choices are combined during model design to create the Bio.frame's shape, overall size, plant capacity and footprint dimension, all tailored to the intended space, practical use and final appearance.

Freestanding

Bio.frame's freestanding stability design removes the need for wall mounting by applying a gravity-driven principle also found in traditional Japanese pagodas, using concentrated lower-level mass and inward-stepping tapered geometry to allow controlled movement while continuously re-centring the structure within its footprint.

Framing

With eight selectable frame heights available for each section, Bio.frame can be shaped with a wide range of vertical expressions. Varying heights make it possible to emphasise tall, open spaces or create a gentle, cascading flow in more intimate settings, allowing the overall composition to align naturally with its environment.

Shelving

Triangular and rectangular shelves in multiple sizes form the foundation for planting, offering varied proportions that support different arrangements and layers of greenery. Their individual vertical spacing creates room for growth, allowing plants to develop, overlap and intertwine over time, turning the shelves into quiet stages for a living composition.

Joinery

The joinery blends frame and shelves into a cohesive form where hardwood and steel unite. This connection creates an elegant and enduring foundation that carries the Bio.frame’s weight, ensuring strength and stability while preserving its light, open impression.

Mirroring

Asymmetric models can be mirrored during assembly to adapt to the spatial conditions of a room. The flexibility makes it possible to respond to the orientation of windows, doors, circulation paths, and adjacent furnishings, ensuring the frame integrates naturally within its environment rather than imposing a fixed layout.

Maintenance

Designed for uneven surfaces, the levelling feet adjust to height variations in the floor. With the lowest shelves set 120 mm above ground and open spacing around the framework, floor cleaning, maintenance and general plant care remain straightforward, helping everything stay tidy and in balance with the indoor environment.

Design certification

Bio.frame design, including its innovative joinery system that enables a highly modular, lightweight, open, and durable framework, has been formally design-certified in Australia and awarded Community Design Registration in Europe.
