Bio.frame
Bio.frame is designed to bring nature into the everyday - freestanding, modular and with a refined framework that supports a diverse collection of plants.
Framing biophilia
At the heart of the Bio.frame are two fundamental ideas:
Biophilia - our natural affinity for botanical life and its ability to shape spaces that feel peaceful, relaxed and naturally connected.
Framework - that organises and displays planting while also serving a role within the interior.
Modular
The use of customisable sections, variable heights and different shelf dimensions allow individual configurations that can be tailored to the intended space, practical use and final expression.
Freestanding
A freestanding stability design removes the need for wall mounting, opening up the many possibilities for use and placement.
Framing
With selectable frame heights it is possible to shape a model to accommodate a wide range of vertical expressions.
Shelving
Triangular and rectangular shelves in multiple sizes form the foundation for planting, offering varied proportions that support different arrangements and layers of greenery.
Joinery
The joinery blends frame and shelves into a cohesive form where hardwood and steel unite to create strength and stability while preserving its light, open expression.
Mirroring
Asymmetric models can be mirrored during assembly to adapt to the spatial conditions of a room.
Maintenance
With the lowest shelves set 120 mm above ground and open spacing around the framework, floor cleaning, maintenance and general plant care remain straightforward.
Design philosophy
We practice our design philosophy through a “less-is-more” approach inspired by the German designer Dieter Rams’ “10 Good Design Principles”. In our book "Explore Bio.frame" we outline how the design principles have been applied to the development of Bio.frame.
